Job Summary
To ensure that Respiratory Therapy services rendered, including the evaluation and treatment of patients, are completed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. Those served include inpatients, outpatients, UHS staff and employees, as well as affiliated UHS community groups as needed.
Job Responsibilities

Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by the manager.

Perform Aerosol Therapy treatments.

Perform CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy (secretion mobilization therapy).
-
Perform Incentive Spirometry therapy.
-
Perform M.D.I. therapy.
-
Perform Suctioning procedure.
-
Perform Extubation procedure.
-
Responsible for Oxygen Tank Safety.
-
Perform Oxygen Therapy on all approved devices.
-
Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms.
-
Perform Cough Assist/Vest therapy.
-
Manage High Flow Cannula/Humidifier therapy and alarms.
-
Perform Pulmonary Function Screen diagnostic procedure.
-
Perform Fit Testing procedure in coordination with Employee Health.
-
Perform Pulse Oximetry procedure.
-
Perform Adult EKG procedure.
-
Perform Pediatric EKG procedure.
-
Perform Adult BLS life support.
-
Perform Pediatric BLS life support.
-
Perform Neonatal BLS life support.
-
Manage Mechanical Ventilation.
-
Manage Ventilator Alarms.
-
Perform Arterial Puncture and Analysis for the Blood Gas Laboratory.

Perform Quality Control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
-
Manage patient healthcare information system (Soarian).
-
Manage medication administration program (MAK).
-
Manage medication dispensing system (McKesson).
-
Verify physician’s written orders performing pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Record and report appropriately the results of all procedures.

Perform BLS when necessary, after certification.
-
Abide by the department Delivery Standards.

Maintain files and bookkeeping records in accordance with department policy.

Perform other related duties.

Assist in departmental in-service program.

Perform other duties as assigned.
