Respiratory Therapy Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides supervision to the technical staff of the Respiratory Care Department on a given shift. Ensure that all therapy is accurately and efficiently accomplished, that the department has sufficient equipment and supplies and that all staff is properly trained. Provides care to any age group from pediatric to geriatric as evidenced by the skill/competency checkoffs. Complies with and enforces departmental and University Health System policies and procedures and maintains good public and working relations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Science with a major in Respiratory Care and the successful completion of the written and clinical simulation exams given by the NBRC are required. Two years’ experience after attaining the NBRC accreditation, one of which has been in a supervisory capacity, is also required. Three years’ supervisory experience after credentialing in a 500 plus bed facility is preferred. In lieu of the above experience and education, the Director of Respiratory Care/Pulmonary Function Lab may accept a Certified Respiratory Care Technician or Graduate Therapist. Supervisors must be certified in BLS.
