Respite Care- Special Education Tutor

We're currently looking for a reliable and engaging After-School Helper to support a bright and creative young girl with autism in her home while her parent works remotely. This is an ideal role for students in education, psychology, social work, or anyone looking to gain hands-on experience and make a real difference.

Schedule:

• Mondays & Tuesdays
• Approximately 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Role Overview:
The After-School Helper will engage the child in structured play, sensory-friendly activities, or light learning tasks in a calm, supportive environment. You’ll help her transition smoothly after school while her parent works from home nearby.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and engage in creative or sensory-friendly activities
• Support emotional regulation and create a predictable, positive routine
• Ensure the child’s safety and comfort at all times
• Communicate with the parent and the Heart & Homes team as needed

Requirements:

• Experience with or interest in working with neurodivergent children (autism experience is a plus)
• Dependable, patient, and compassionate
• Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the U.S.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required
• Willing to undergo a background check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.93 - $25.20 per hour

Expected hours: 5 per week
