Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responds to calls or reacts on view to emergency and non-emergency incidents (medical, law enforcement, injury/accident, et al) on campus. Takes action or makes a note for follow-up on any safety and security issues. Provides Emergency Management support during larger-scale incidents. When not on assignment, patrols the University properties.
Controls criminal or other significant scenes, including preservation and gathering of evidence. Receives/compiles information for incident reports and conducts initial and follow-up investigations, as assigned. Takes photos, makes videos, or creates any other relevant documentary evidence in support of criminal prosecution, potential insurance claims, and other legal processes.
Provides necessary follow-up (transports to the medical facility, notifies proper authorities, and undertakes any other necessary coordination) for faculty, staff, students, and visitors after immediate resolution of an incident. Apprehends criminal suspects for on-view or reported criminal activity. Prepares for and testifies in criminal proceedings.
May serve as a Field Training Officer or instructor. May fulfill informal leadership duties in the absence of Leads or supervisors.
Conducts building checks, which include checking access control devices, door locks, and proactively looking for any possible safety or security hazards. Uses problem-solving skills to resolve issues found during building checks.
Assists Medical Center personnel and visitors with directions and provides escorts when requested. Partners with customers in assigned geographical areas and assists them in resolving multi-department issues. Provides information and assistance to individuals with special needs as needed.
Takes possession of found property, attempting to locate the owner, and securing property according to established procedure.
Enforces parking regulations and provides support to the Transportation Office as needed.
