Restaurant Bookkeeper

Job Summary

The Restaurant Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the restaurant. This role includes tracking daily sales, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll data and ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded. The bookkeeper helps the management team monitor profitability and maintain financial compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping

  • Record daily sales, expenses, and financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries
  • Organize and maintain financial documents and receipts

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
  • Track outstanding payments and follow up when necessary
  • Manage supplier statements and reconcile discrepancies
  • Maintain payable and receivable reports

Bank & Cash Reconciliation

  • Reconcile daily POS reports with cash, credit card, and online payment records
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Monitor cash flow and report discrepancies

Payroll Support

  • Prepare payroll information including employee hours, tips, and deductions
  • Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll processing

P&L / Financial Reporting

  • Prepare weekly or monthly financial reports for management
  • Track food costs, labor costs, and operational expenses
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • QuickBooks Online Experience Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency at intermediate level minimum
  • Trustworthy to handle confidential financial information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with restaurant POS systems
  • Knowledge of restaurant cost controls and inventory tracking
  • Familiarity with payroll systems

Work Environment

  • Office setting within the restaurant or remote bookkeeping environment
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work during financial closing periods

Salary Range

$45,000 – $65,000 per year

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
