Job Title: Hostess
Department: Front of House / Customer Service
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Hostess is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. She manages reservations, seating arrangements, and ensures smooth guest flow within the restaurant while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables in a professional manner.
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waiting lists efficiently.
- Provide accurate waiting time estimates and ensure guest comfort while waiting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable reception/hostess area at all times.
- Communicate with the service and kitchen teams regarding table status, reservations, and guest preferences.
- Present menus, introduce daily specials, and assist guests with any initial inquiries.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns politely and promptly, escalating to the Manager if needed.
- Monitor dining areas to ensure tables are properly set and ready for new guests.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the restaurant’s offerings, promotions, and events.
- Ensure that guests’ needs are anticipated and met to guarantee satisfaction.
- Follow company grooming standards, uniform policy, and hygiene procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a hostess or in a customer-facing role (preferably in hospitality or F&B).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer knowledge (POS system, reservation software).
- Fluent in English (Arabic and other languages are an advantage).
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting preferred.
Work Conditions:
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as per business needs.
- Standing for long periods and interacting with guests continuously.
