Position Summary:
The Restaurant Hostess is the first and last point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and organized dining experience. This role manages reservations, seating flow, and guest communication while supporting front-of-house operations to ensure exceptional service standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Greet all guests warmly upon arrival and provide a friendly, professional first impression
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments using the POS or reservation system
- Escort guests to tables and present menus in a timely manner
- Maintain an accurate seating chart to ensure balanced service among servers
- Monitor dining room activity and communicate wait times effectively
- Answer phones, take reservations, and respond to guest inquiries
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Coordinate with servers, managers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate issues when necessary
- Thank guests as they depart and invite them to return
