The Restaurant Server provides excellent customer service by taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience. They maintain a welcoming and efficient atmosphere while adhering to the restaurant's service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction:
- Greet and welcome guests promptly and courteously.
- Present menus, explain menu items, and make recommendations upon request.
- Answer questions regarding food and beverages, including dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Upsell additional items such as beverages, desserts, or specials.
Order Taking & Service:
- Accurately take food and drink orders, and relay them to the kitchen or bar staff.
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely manner.
- Ensure that tables are properly set and reset after each guest leaves.
- Check in on guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction.
Payment & Billing:
- Prepare checks, process payments, and handle cash/credit transactions accurately.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns with tact and escalate to management if necessary.
Team Collaboration:
- Assist in coordinating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Collaborate with other servers, bussers, and the host/hostess to ensure efficient service.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
Restaurant Setup & Maintenance:
- Prepare tables for service, including placing tableware, condiments, and decorations.
- Maintain cleanliness of service areas, including dining tables, chairs, and floors.
- Assist in restocking supplies and organizing dining areas as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remember multiple orders.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy trays for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and handle occasional heavy lifting.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced and dynamic restaurant environment.
- May involve evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
