Position Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and driven Retail Banking Accountant to join our finance team at GLS-SL. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail banking environment, overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting decision-making with key financial insights. You will manage the accounting functions for retail banking transactions, accounts, and reports, contributing to the seamless operation of our financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for retail banking operations.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile customer accounts, loans, deposits, and credit facilities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Transaction Processing: Oversee day-to-day banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan repayments, and interest accruals, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes for retail banking products and services, providing insights to help meet financial targets.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure that all financial activities comply with regulatory requirements, accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), and internal policies.
- Audit Preparation: Support both internal and external audits by preparing financial documentation, ensuring transparency and accuracy in all banking records.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of retail banking products, providing insights into performance metrics, cost management, and potential areas for growth or improvement.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow within the retail banking operations to ensure liquidity and efficient use of resources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with retail banking managers, auditors, tax advisors, and other departments to ensure financial data integrity and support business operations.
- Customer Reporting: Generate reports for customers regarding their banking transactions, account balances, loan statements, and interest calculations, maintaining a high level of accuracy and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in retail banking accounting, financial reporting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of retail banking products (e.g., personal loans, savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages) and their associated accounting practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and local regulatory requirements for banking and financial services.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve discrepancies quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
- A professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or similar is a plus.
