Job Description: Retail Planner – Assortment & Range Planning

Industry: Luxury / Fashion / Jewelry Retail

Reporting To: CEO / COO

Role Overview

The Retail Planner will play a strategic role in driving assortment planning, range architecture, and inventory productivity across channels. This role will work closely with Buying, Merchandising, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure optimal product availability, budget utilisation, and profitable growth aligned with the brand’s vision.

Key Responsibilities

The role will own end-to-end assortment planning and range architecture, ensuring a balanced and commercially viable mix across categories, collections, price points, and store formats. This includes defining ideal assortment width and depth by channel (stores, kiosks, MBOs, exhibitions, and online).

The Retail Planner will manage OTB (Open to Buy) and UTB (Use of the Budget) planning, ensuring disciplined budget control, tracking commitments vs. actuals, and driving monthly and seasonal reviews with senior leadership. The role will proactively identify risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.

Regular analysis of sell-through, stock cover, inventory ageing, and replenishment needs will be required to maximise inventory turns and minimise slow-moving stock.

The candidate will partner closely with Buying and Merchandising teams to support seasonal line planning, range efficiency, and launch planning. This includes identifying assortment gaps, duplication, over-assortment, and opportunities for newness while maintaining brand consistency.

The Retail Planner will support store and channel-level planning, including store clustering, grading, and performance benchmarking. The role will prepare regular MIS, dashboards, and insights for the CEO/COO to support strategic decision-making.
