Position Summary
We are hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by accurately processing prescriptions, handling customer and insurance transactions, maintaining inventory, preparing medications, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced community setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive, enter, and process prescriptions accurately in the pharmacy system
- Fill and label medications following pharmacy protocols and verification steps
- Prepare bulk and unit-dose medications; assist with non-sterile compounding if trained
- Manage insurance adjudication, claims, prior authorizations, and billing issues
- Provide friendly service at the counter and by phone; triage basic medication questions to pharmacists
- Maintain inventory: ordering, restocking, rotating stock, and checking expirations
- Handle POS transactions, cash handling, returns, and daily reconciliations
- Support medication synchronization, refill reminders, and adherence programs
- Keep pharmacy area clean, organized, and compliant with regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or state registration as required — or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Strong computer skills; experience with pharmacy management systems and insurance billing preferred
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Able to stand for long periods, lift 25–35 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an independent pharmacy or with compounding procedures
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Experience with Pioneer dispensing software
