- Customer Interaction & Service
- Greet customers in a friendly, approachable way.
- Understand customers’ needs, offer product information, recommendations, and help them choose.
- Handle customer questions, complaints, or returns in a professional manner to ensure satisfaction.
- Sales & Targets
- Achieve or exceed individual sales targets or KPIs (key performance indicators).
- Upsell or cross-sell products (suggest related items, upgrades, accessories etc.).
- Product Knowledge & Promotions
- Maintain good knowledge of all the products in the store: features, prices, benefits, promotions.
- Be aware of current promotions, offers, new arrivals, and help implement them.
- Store Presentation & Merchandising
- Keep the sales floor tidy, appealing, and well organised.
- Assist with product displays, visual merchandising, and stock presentation according to store guidelines.
- Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor inventory levels, report shortages, assist in stock replenishment.
- Participate in receiving new stock, unpacking, checking quantities, and labelling.
- Transactions & POS Operations
- Process sales transactions accurately using POS (Point-of-Sale) systems.
- Handle payment, refunds, exchanges, ensuring proper handling of cash/cards etc.
- Security & Loss Prevention
- Be alert for theft, fraud, or other security risks.
- Follow store policies for payments, exchanges, and customer verification.
- Cleanliness & Store Maintenance
- Maintain store cleanliness, orderliness, and ensure that displays are always presentable.
- Reporting & Feedback
- Keep records of sales, customer interactions, inventory discrepancies etc., and report them to store manager.
- Provide feedback from customers (what they like/dislike, suggestions) to help improve products or service.
- Teamwork & Collaboration
- Work with other staff (other sales executives, merchandisers, store management) to meet overall store targets.
- Assist with training or supporting new staff if required. (In larger stores)
Skills & Qualifications Often Expected
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, persuasive, customer-oriented attitude.
- Basic numeracy and ability to handle transactions.
- Ability to work under pressure / meet targets.
- Knowledge of POS systems, inventory systems.
- Flexibility in work hours (weekends, evenings) because retail hours often demand it.
