Assistant Manager
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring an excellent customer experience, driving sales, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. This role helps lead, coach, and develop team members while upholding company values of being positive towards people and pets, eager to learn, team-oriented, and accountable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising and directing staff to meet sales, service, and operational goals.
- Provide coaching, training, and feedback to employees to support growth and performance.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve escalated customer concerns.
- Help manage inventory, merchandising, and product displays to maximize sales opportunities.
- Monitor loss prevention practices and maintain store safety and security standards.
- Support scheduling, timekeeping, and daily task assignments to ensure smooth operations.
- Act as manager-on-duty in the absence of the Store Manager, making key decisions as needed.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork and accountability.
- Assist with retention of employees.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Previous retail or supervisory experience required; assistant manager experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
This position requires a hands-on presence in the store, frequent interaction with customers and employees, and occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
