Our Prorate and Fuel Tax Services (PRFT) within our Business and Professions Division (BPD) is currently recruiting for four (4) Revenue Auditor 2 positions to find knowledgeable and motivated candidates to support the fuel tax team.

As a Revenue Auditor within PRFT, you will work with a deeply confident team to ensure the unit's goals are being met. You will provide every customer with equitable access to all DOL services with your excellent customer service. You will leverage your auditing knowledge to accurately review fuel tax records, document findings in reports, evaluate internal controls and recordkeeping procedures, and manage multiple workloads. You will work with experienced senior auditors as you travel to training, team up on writing reports, and shadow them during auditing activities.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Independently plan, coordinate and conduct educational desk reviews and audits of businesses or refund claimants.
  • Analyze data, correcting reporting errors and discrepancies while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Reconcile and evaluate reports, fuel invoices, and fuel receipts.
  • Work through position training plan tasks and development goals.
  • Provide education and recommendations to customers.
  • Work with other auditors on coordinated audits.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience performing intermediate to complex auditing, accounting, and data analysis that includes compiling, reconciling, and analyzing large data sets.
  • Experience using computer programs to write documents, send emails, edit spreadsheets, share documents, take notes, store files, and meet with people virtually and in person.

Experience can be obtained concurrently.

Up to 5 years of relevant education* may substitute year for year for experience.

*Business administration, public administration, law, public health, health administration, accounting, auditing, or a related field.

What will help set you apart:

  • Experience with the legislative and political environments and processes including interpreting laws, rules, regulations, and policies, and assessing impacts.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and other jurisdictional fuel tax and registration law.
  • Familiarity with industry accounting and record keeping practices while working with customer records.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assigned work products including organizing multiple assignments to produce work products.

Additional Requirements of Employment:

  • Prior to a new hire, a pre-employment screening that includes a criminal record history check will be conducted. These findings may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • Initial training will be completed at our Olympia, WA office, and once completed you will be expected to work in office at our Olympia, WA location every Wednesday and Thursday. Other in-office days may be required as business needs dictate.
  • This position will have medical, dental, and vision benefits available, but will not include any retirement benefits unless you are a current Department of Licensing permanent employee.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $4,882.00 - $6,414.00 per month
