Job Title: Ride Technician – (Mechanical / Electrical) Department: Ride Maintenance/Engineering
Job Summary:
The Amusement Park Ride Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on both mechanical & electrical components of amusement rides and attractions. This includes inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and testing ride systems to ensure the safety, functionality, and reliability of park operations. The technician works closely with engineering, safety, and operations teams to ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and to minimize downtime through effective maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities:Ride Maintenance & Repair:
· Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly mechanical & electrical inspections of rides and attractions.
· Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
· Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, gear, chain, and belt systems.
· Respond promptly to ride breakdowns and implement corrective actions to resume operations quickly.
Inspections & Testing:
· Execute pre-opening safety checks and operational testing on mechanical systems.
· Assist in third-party and internal audits, ensuring documentation and readiness of equipment.
· Conduct load and stress tests on ride systems to verify integrity and performance.
Documentation & Reporting:
· Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection logs.
· Document all repairs, part replacements, and technical interventions in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
· Report critical issues and recommend corrective action plans to supervisors or engineering management.
Safety & Compliance:
· Adhere to all ride safety protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASTM F24, EN standards, local authority codes).
· Use lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance operations.
· Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with OSHA and park-specific safety standards.
Technical Support & Team Collaboration:
· Collaborate with electricians, control technicians, and other specialists during multi- disciplinary maintenance tasks.
· Support ride commissioning, modifications, and retrofits as directed by engineering.
Inventory & Tools Management:
· Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to perform mechanical tasks effectively.
· Report shortages of spare parts or tools and assist in maintaining the mechanical inventory.
· Recommend the procurement of mechanical components based on wear patterns and historical failures.
Emergency Response:
· Be available for emergency response during ride incidents or technical failures.
· Participate in emergency drills and evacuation training as part of operational readiness.
Qualifications:
· Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
· Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical maintenance, preferably in amusement parks, theme parks, or industrial machinery environments.
· Certifications: Relevant mechanical / Electrical trade certification (preferred); training in LOTO, rigging, or hydraulic systems is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
· Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, gears, and motors.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
· Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
· Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
· Attention to detail, safety-first mindset, and problem-solving capabilities.
Working Conditions:
· Work involves physical activity including climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, and working at heights, equipment operating skills etc., (Like Manlift & Scissor lift)
· Awareness of the Planet Equipment’s.
· Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
· Shift work including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations may be required.
Performance Indicators:
· Ride uptime and operational availability.
· Accuracy and completeness of maintenance documentation.
· Compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
