Role Overview
Blood Nexus Studio is looking for a skilled Rigging Artist who specializes in real-time rigging inside Unreal Engine. This role goes beyond basic DCC rigs—you’ll be building rigs that function reliably in gameplay, animation systems, and performance-critical environments.
You’ll work on humanoids, creatures, and unconventional characters, solving real production problems like deformation issues, animation compatibility, and runtime optimization.
Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and maintain production-ready rigs inside Unreal Engine
- Develop rigs for humanoid, creature, and non-standard characters
- Solve Unreal Engine rigging challenges related to deformation, performance, and animation systems
- Work with Control Rig, Skeleton assets, and Unreal animation pipelines
- Optimize rigs for real-time gameplay and performance
- Collaborate with animators, artists, and programmers
- Debug and fix rigging issues throughout production
- Improve and maintain rigging workflows and technical pipelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with rigging in Unreal Engine
- Solid understanding of multiple rig types (biped, quadruped, multi-limb, mechanical, hybrid)
- Proven ability to create stable, production-friendly rigs within Unreal’s constraints
- Experience with creature rigging and complex anatomy
- Knowledge of deformation techniques such as skin weighting, twist bones, and corrective shapes
- Understanding of animation pipelines and real-time limitations
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Nice to Have
- Advanced Control Rig setups
- Technical art or scripting experience
- Familiarity with Maya, Blender, or similar DCC tools
- Prior game development studio experience
- Optimization experience for PC or console games
