This role on the Channel and Business Risk team within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) focuses on driving risk insights that influence decision‑making and shape MassMutual’s strategic trajectory.

Core to this purpose is Risk Management, which seeks to influence company decisions through an enterprise view of risk and reward, helping MassMutual become the best company in the financial industry. As we embark on a range of strategic imperatives to grow our businesses, the importance of a strong risk management foundation has never been clearer.

The Team

The Channel and Business Risk team is a trusted partner that leverages risk expertise to help business and executive leaders make informed decisions about risks and opportunities that could impact their ability to achieve their strategic and business objectives. To this end, the Channel and Business Risk team’s goal is to perform services that:

As the pace of change continues to accelerate externally and internally, we have increasing needs to partner with and monitor the external environment, make deeper use of artificial intelligence and data analytics, and generate swift insights to inform decision‑making.

The Impact

  • Drive substantive strategic risk problem solving efforts by engaging stakeholders, defining key questions and leading research and analysis related to business strategies

  • Build and maintain a repeatable, scalable approach to risk monitoring and intelligence synthesis so insight generation is faster, more systematic, and less dependent on individual effort
  • Apply sound professional judgment when interpreting complex, multi‑source analysis, including AI‑assisted outputs, assessing relevance, limitations, and implications for risk and reward in dynamic situations
  • Translate complex risk analysis into concise executive ready communications (e.g. board materials, ERC presentations, senior leadership briefings)
  • Generate impact as a trusted advisor by maintaining ability to see the big picture in complex and dynamic situations
  • Role model behaviors (e.g., high energy, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity, highest level of professionalism, inclusive behaviors, orientation towards client and team instead of self)

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of progressive experience working in the insurance industry across strategy consulting, risk management and/or finance
  • 2+ years of experience working with visualization and presentation tools such as but not limited to excel, tableau, PowerPoint.
  • 1+ years of experience conducting structured research and analysis to support complex risk or strategic questions.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills
