Seeking a Cardiac Device RN - Level1 who has a specialized skill set that provides exemplary patient care for both technical and clinical components for accurate CIED management. Based on years of experience in the field of Electrophysiology and CIED (Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices),Level 2 RN is involved with advanced troubleshooting, arrhythmia interpretation and comprehensive data management for both in-clinic and remote encounters.
What you will do in this role:
The RN functions at a high level, is a leader in clinic, is a decision maker partnering with all team members to provide a higher level of care to device patients. This position is unique, highly specialized, and requires a high level of clinical and technical acumen as well as independence. The Device RN will be independently accountable for the management and coordination of care of patients with devices and will partner with the EP team, Interventional Cardiologists, Heart Failure team and Structural Heart as well as other staff members.
Under the supervision of a physician, performs in-clinic and remote interrogation, evaluation, and reprogramming of all CIED’s (pacemakers, ICD’s, ILR’s and cardiac resynchronization devices) for all manufacturers.
In-depth understanding and application of the technical aspects of cardiac device function to specific patient care is expected, including identifying arrhythmias, assessing symptoms, and reviewing diagnostics.
Manages and coordinates the device clinic including wound assessment and care and post-operative teaching.
Monitor patients, evaluating and programming CIED’s following established clinic protocols.
Analyze clinical data and compose written CIED management summaries, clinic visit notes, and letters.
Advanced understanding of device diagnostics including identifying arrhythmias, assessing correlating symptoms, reviewing patient’s medical history and medications.
A thorough clinical understanding of heart failure diagnostics, symptoms and treatment options is required for further evaluation of CIED data for clinic correlation.
Direct interviews with patients, family to obtain past medical and social past medical history to facilitate all aspects of disease management, diagnostic and device management follow up.
What Qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse School of Nursing
Minimum Associate Nursing Degree, ADN
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two years of functioning independently and managing patients in device clinic managing CIED’s with all manufacturer’s (Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Abbott/St. Jude, and Biotronik)required
Minimum 2years' experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions (Carelink, Latitude, and Merlin)required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the respective jurisdiction per state requirements. Nurses are governed by their state board of nursing and work under their own individual license.
Current BLS certification required
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Device Remote Monitoring Specialist (CDRMS) from International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) preferred
Certification by IBHRE within 2 years of employment is strongly preferred and encouraged
