RN Clinical Coordinator - FT Days - BH Flex (New Behavioral Hospital)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned department(s) on a twenty-four hours basis. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resources management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, as well as making suggestions for revision of same. Maintains open communication with Clinical Director. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities. Knowledge of wide range of disorders, emotional, development, social and behavior. Performs crisis intervention. Participates in clinical assessment of patients referred to ensure that admission criteria are met and that the patients meets legal criteria for admission.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :

    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
    • Current registered nurse license in good standing in the State of Texas
    • The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position.
    • Current BLS certification required.
    • CPI Training within 30 days of hire date.
    • Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
    • Ability to read, write and speak English
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
    • Hospital Experience in Behavioral Health or related field preferred

  • JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :

    • Minimum of two ( 2 ) years combined experience as front line manager coupled with three years clinical nursing experience required.
    • Requires knowledge of State and Federal regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.
    • Broad understanding of patient care processes.
    • Able to apply principles of managerial and leadership theory.
    • Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage and care delivery across the continuum of care.
    • The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and written required; as in the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.
    • Must be flexible with work scheduling.
    • Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.

  • POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
    • Coordinates with the directors and prepares for the regular reporting of case reviews, time lines, and quality trends from case review data.
    • Provides effective leadership to the assigned departments of responsibility.
    • Integrates the department(s) and its services into the organization’s primary mission.
    • Coordinates and integrates services within the department(s) and with other departments.
    • Develops, updates and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provisions of services.
    • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care.
  • · Responsible for supporting management, staff, to achieve and maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance within behavioral hospital with emphasis in psychiatric Services. Assists in the preparation of action plans.

    • Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
    • Continuously assess and improves the department’s performance.
    • Completes special assignments as assigned.
    • Assists in the research and development of new patient care protocols and provides staff support for research activities.
    • Maintains appropriate quality improvement programs.
    • Provides for orientation, in-service education training, and continuing education of all person in the department(s).
    • Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
    • Other Duties as assigned.

  • B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

  • C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
