Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care during night shifts. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries in the ER setting, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, infectious diseases, and pediatric emergencies.
- Perform thorough patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating physiological status to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and sedation, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Manage airway maintenance with ventilator support when necessary and handle advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and tube feeding.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient care activities precisely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, radiology staff, and case managers to coordinate urgent care interventions.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations by implementing basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and trauma protocols aligned with Level I or Level II trauma center standards.
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience within emergency departments or ICU settings, demonstrating proficiency in trauma medicine, acute pain management, and infectious disease care.
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic evaluation tools such as laboratory testing, sonography, CT scans, and medical imaging modalities.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and coding including ICD-10/ICD-9 classifications.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for effective patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV insertion, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics in memory or dementia care units, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during high-volume shifts while maintaining excellent communication skills for triage and discharge planning.
