The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) is seeking an experienced RN-Research Coordinator to work in a casual capacity to support the research being conducted at Hennepin Healthcare by Drs. Allyson Hart and Cory Schaffhausen.

This is an onsite position requiring a presence in downtown Minneapolis, MN on the Hennepin Healthcare campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN-Research Coordinator will be responsible for conducting patient education and decision support interventions, protocol initiation, procedural adherence and compliance, and data collection. Maintain adherence to protocol and regulatory guidelines and adhere to principles of good clinical practice in research. Coordinate schedules with patient and family participants. Meet virtually with patient and family participants to conduct a research intervention related to kidney transplant decision support. RN may provide team leadership in problem solving and regularly assist and coordinate work of Research Assistants.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for conducting patient education and decision support interventions.
    • Coordinate schedules with patient and family participants.
    • Meet virtually with patient and family participants to conduct a research intervention related to kidney transplant decision support.
  • Responsible for protocol initiation, procedural adherence and compliance, and data collection.
  • Coordinates with study team to screen and recruit patients.
  • Keeps study staff informed regarding their enrolled patients' status.
  • Project implementation including working through regulatory and ethics review (human subjects research committee) and potentially assisting with project budgets.
  • Adherent to procedures and training for good clinical practice in clinical research
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures and processes, to improve communication and efficiency for conducting programmatic research
  • Assist team members to ensure successful conduct of broader programmatic goals
  • Keeps patient logs for remuneration consistent with HHRI / sponsor policies
  • Provides team leadership in problem solving, regularly assists and coordinates work of Research Assistants and another related staff.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Education/Experience:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be completion of a degree and current Minnesota state license as a registered nurse and five (5) years clinical nursing experience, including three (3) years experience within the specific research field.

Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA):

Requires interaction with a diverse population. Ability to describe living donation and deceased donation processes with patients and respond to patient and family questions. Skilled in nursing observation and assessment, intervention and implementation, and patient care. Skilled in data organization and analysis. Knowledge of nursing practice and process; and knowledge of principles of clinical research. Ability to organize workload, work independently, problem solve, and communicate effectively with patients, peers and investigators, and be flexible and adaptable. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.
