Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM):
Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.

Role Overview:

The top priority of this position is to email or physically mail all wastewater inspection reports to the appropriate parties in a timely manner. Other responsibilities include forwarding correspondence to appropriate parties, uploading documents to VFC, entering inspection commitments into Access database, tracking violation letters, assisting with operator certification documents, and other duties as assigned.
Must be familiar with combining pdfs, have attention to detail, and have great time management skills.
There are many flexible work hour schedules available, however, the work day cannot end before 3:30 pm to meet the business needs of this position.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program such as procedures, needs and policies.
Answer customer questions about program policies and procedures.
Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program.
Assist in the preparation of program reports, develop applications, prepare budget allocations and/or purchasing of consultative services.
Maintain, monitor, and order program assets.
Assist supervisor in the development and planning of overall program and its role in the functioning of the agency.
Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program related training materials.

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

Specialized knowledge of program area including pertinent rules and regulations.
Specialized knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, agency policy and professional standards and practices.
Ability to research, analyze, and compile specific topics related to program area.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.
Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.
Specialized knowledge of accounting and budgeting.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
