About the Role:

The RN Women's Services role is dedicated to providing comprehensive nursing care to women across various stages of their health journey, including prenatal, perinatal, postpartum, and gynecological care. This position plays a critical role in supporting women's health by delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing interventions and education tailored to individual patient needs. The nurse will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure holistic and coordinated care, promoting positive health outcomes. Additionally, the role involves patient advocacy, health promotion, and the facilitation of a supportive environment for women and their families. Ultimately, the RN in Women's Services contributes to enhancing the quality of life and well-being of women through expert clinical practice and empathetic patient engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) All certifications must be current.
• One year experience working in labor and delivery, postpartum, or gynecological units.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems specific to women's health.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Advanced certifications such as Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) or Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN).
• Training in lactation consulting or patient education.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes in patient conditions to initiate appropriate interventions.
• Educate patients and families on health maintenance, prenatal care, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
• Support patients emotionally and psychologically, addressing concerns related to reproductive health and childbirth.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with best practices in women's health nursing.

Skills:

The RN in Women's Services utilizes clinical assessment and critical thinking skills daily to monitor and respond to patient needs effectively. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care. Empathy and emotional intelligence enable the nurse to provide compassionate support during sensitive and often stressful health experiences. Proficiency with electronic medical records facilitates accurate documentation and information sharing. Additionally, ongoing learning and adaptability allow the nurse to incorporate the latest evidence-based practices into patient care, enhancing outcomes and patient satisfaction.

This is a 6:45 AM through 6:45 PM shift.
This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime, if applicable. This position is budgeted for 36 hours per week and is considered FT. ( .90 FTE)
