Road Mechanic

Job Title: Fleet Road Mechanic

Department: Fleet

Reports To: Fleet Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Location: Travel between the LaGrange and Fayetteville, NC areas.

Position Purpose:

Road Mechanic position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of on and offroad equipment and out on crew jobsites daily with occasional travel to the shop or office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect and repair company equipment such as pickups, line trucks, trailers, excavators, compressors, boring rigs, off road tracked vehicles in a safe, and cost-effective manner
• Road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality repairs and services
• Place orders for required parts materials and supplies
• Prepare and maintain records and reports
• Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner
• Provide support for fellow mechanics when needed
• Complete DOT inspections
• Complete Tune-ups, Brake jobs (hydraulic and Air) Basic Wiring
• Safely use Cutting Torch and Basic Welding Skills
• Perform other tasks as requested or assigned by Lead, Maintenance Coordinator, and Fleet Manager

Physical Aspects:

• The physical demands described here are typical of those that must be met by a team-member to perform the essential functions of their job in powerline construction.
• While performing the responsibilities of this job, you talk or hear. Frequently, the job requires you to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• You will be required to perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.); or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Team members frequently lift or move up to, or in-excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the tasks of this job, team-members may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Team members are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This work may be performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

• MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
• 3 years' experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs or related field
• Basic Diesel and drivetrain experience
• Basic hydraulic knowledge
• Knowledge of Heavy equipment repairs
• Proficient in reading and understanding scan tool
• Knowledge of safety Procedures and Guidelines
• Knowledge of Heavy equipment repairs
• Flexible work schedule: 7:00 am -5:00 pm M-F, occasional late nights, early mornings, and weekends
• Capable of completing work alone and unsupervised.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 or more years' experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs or related field
• CDL Class A License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
• Specific training/certifications (ASE, ALTEC, TEREX, ECT)
