Road Safety Engineer

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Road Safety Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in road safety audits, in-service safety reviews, and road design, with hands-on experience working on projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Road Safety Audits

• Lead and/or participate in road safety audits (RSA Stages 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4), as defined in TR-540 and TR-545 (by QCC).
• Lead and/or participate in in-service road safety reviews/inspections for a variety of Abu Dhabi roads.
• Lead or participate in internal road safety auditing for different road design projects carried out by the company.

Design & Technical Development

• Lead or participate in developing geometric designs for roads, intersections, interchanges, and related infrastructure, integrating the principles of efficiency, safety, and aesthetics.
• Produce detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation necessary for project deliverables, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable standards and guidelines.

Meetings & Coordination

• Lead or participate in client and contractor meetings.
• Stay abreast of local regulations, codes, guidelines, and industry standards related to road design and road safety auditing.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor and guide junior staff through all stages of multiple projects, at various stages of development.

Business Development

• Engage in active business development for different transportation engineering projects.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background:

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering from an accredited university (Master’s is preferred) with a strong emphasis on transportation or traffic engineering.

Relevant Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in road safety audits, in-service road safety reviews/inspections, crash investigation, and road design.
• Must have completed a minimum of 5 Road Safety Audits (as Audit Team Member or Observer) in the past 24 months, two of which must be in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Transport Expertise:

• Full familiarity with national and international standards and guidelines related to road safety and road design, including TR-540 (by QCC), TR-545 (by QCC), TR-514 (by QCC), TR-531 (by QCC), Highway Safety Manual (by AASHTO), Green Book (by AASHTO), MUTCD (by FHWA), HCM (by FHWA), and other guidelines published by QCC, AASHTO, FHWA, and ITE.
• Full familiarity with DMT and ITC procedures and requirements.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Bentley MX.

Eligibility:

• Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) by DMT.

Multitasking Skills

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Communication Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English (Arabic is an asset).
