About Heavy Lifting Kids Coding & Robotics Workshop
Heavy Lifting Kids Coding & Robotics is a Mountain View–based company dedicated to empowering K–8 students through hands-on robotics, coding, and engineering education. We teach students to build, code, and innovate using LEGO® robotics systems—including SPIKE™ Essentials, SPIKE™ Prime, Scratch, and beginner Python programming. Our summer camps are designed to make STEM fun, exciting, and accessible through hands-on projects, team challenges, engineering design activities, and robotics games. Students learn while building confidence, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and kid-loving Summer Camp instructor to lead robotics and STEM camps for elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, can manage a classroom independently, and is excited about making robotics, coding, and engineering fun. Training and curriculum materials are fully provided.
ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Classroom Leadership
- Lead robotics, coding, and engineering activities for elementary and middle school students
- Teach lessons using provided curriculum, including LEGO SPIKE Essentials, SPIKE Prime, Scratch, beginner Python, and STEM challenges
- Guide students through the engineering design process: build, test, improve
- Create a positive, organized, and engaging camp environment
- Explain robotics and coding concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way
- Supervise students during activities, breaks, and transitions
- Encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure student safety
Camp Operations
- Prepare classroom materials and camp activities before students arrive
- Organize and maintain robotics kits, parts, and camp supplies
- Help with camp check-in, dismissal and transitions
- Communicate with parents and staff about student progress and daily activities
- Clean up and reset camp materials at the end of the day
QualificationsRequired
- Enjoy working with children and helping them succeed
- Ability to lead groups independently and manage multiple students at once
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Responsible, punctual, organized, and reliable
- Basic experience in one or more of the following:
- LEGO robotics
- Scratch or Python coding
- Engineering, maker, or STEM projects
- Summer camps, teaching, tutoring, or childcare
- Able to work weekday summer camp hours
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience teaching or leading summer camps
- Experience with LEGO SPIKE Prime or SPIKE Essentials
- Familiarity with FLL or FTC robotics competitions
- Engineering, CS, education, or STEM background
