Roll-Off Truck Driver

The primary role of a Roll Off Truck Driver is to operate the roll-off truck and perform waste collection and disposal of solid waste materials in accordance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

· Comply with all required safety protocols and precautions.

· Wear safety clothing and PPE at all required times in the production environment.

· Drives Roll-Off and loads/offloads containers and compactors

· Drives trucks along established routes through residential streets and alleys, or through business and industrial areas.

· Collects trash, recycle, and bulk items and disposes at appropriate locations/landfills.

. Obtain disposal receipts and upload in the system

· Dismounts refuse trucks to collect garbage & cleanup container locations as needed.

· Drives to disposal sites to empty vehicles that have been filled.

· Refuels vehicles and adds other necessary fluids, such as oil and DEF.

· Operates equipment that compresses the collected refuse.

· Relocate containers as needed.

· Observes proper safety and DOT regulations in the field. Exercises extreme caution at all times to avoid high voltage wires, utility poles, parked vehicles, and backing out of dead-end alleys into main thoroughfares or heavily traveled streets.

· Wash vehicles, refuse containers and other equipment to maintain clean, odor-free, and sanitary property.

· Keeps informed of road and weather conditions to determine how routes will be affected.

· Conducts daily pre & post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.

· Performs QC inspections of containers on route and report problems.

· Keeps simple records of work performed and equipment utilized such as vehicle problems and daily reports.

· Communicates with managers/dispatchers concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns and other maintenance problems.

· Report accidents and incidents to the supervisor.

· Report violation of refuse ordinances/regulations.

· Substitutes in other positions as needed.

· Performs other essential duties as required by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Proficient in the English language; effectively communicate in reading, writing and speaking.

· Must understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.

· Ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting, standing or lying down.

· Ability to see details at close and distance ranges.

· Ability to judge the distance between multiple objects.

· Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

· Knowledge in the operations of equipment or systems used to perform their job functions.

· Knowledge and ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

· Must be results-oriented, take initiative, and be self-motivated.

· Must be able to follow directions.

· Attendance is an essential job function. Report to work on time and work the scheduled hours.

Physical Requirements

· Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties.

· Perform a full range of physical effort to include with assistance, lifting, carrying, and positioning of objects up to 75 lbs. in weight.

· Perform heavy work; exert more than 50 pounds of force occasionally, exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

· Prolonged standing on hard surfaces; good eye, hand & foot coordination in the manipulation of levers pedals etc. of motorized vehicles and light equipment.

· Perform prolonged work in tiring or uncomfortable positions; frequent exit and entry of vehicle, bending, stooping, reaching, and stretching.

· Ability to withstand all types of adverse weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements

· Minimum Class B CDL state driver's license with insurable record, DOT health certificate, able to pass DOT drug screen and have clear MVR and Clearinghouse records.

· Three years of minimum experience - heavy truck driving, equipment operation, waste management.

· Ability to obtain security background clearance.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Roll off truck Driving: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CDL A or B (Required)
