RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Equipment Operation & Production
- Operate depot equipment and especially machine tools to manufacture or repair parts according to specifications and technical drawings (Horizontal Lathe, Milling Machine and Press Brake Bending and Shearing Machines)
- Machine tools are installations dedicated to the production of parts, particularly for trains and other systems, and compliance with standards relating to railway safety.
- Select appropriate tools, accessories, settings, and materials for each job.
- Inspect and verify the quality, accuracy, and compliance of finished components.
- Use production, operation, and maintenance documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on depot equipment and focus on machine tools
- Diagnose faults based on incident history, reports, and inspections.
- Implement corrective actions, testing, and validations to restore operational reliability.
- Carry out cyclical checks, adjustments, and inspections, raising alerts where anomalies are detected.
- Monitor the performance and reliability of equipment, taking corrective measures when required.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality assurance procedures, and workshop standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of activities, including codes, measurements, and steps taken.
- Keep the working environment clean, organized, and safe.
- Support the achievement of full traceability across all operations.
Tools, Resources & Team Support
- Manage tools, consumables, and spare parts to ensure availability and proper use.
- Assist in organizing workloads, distributing tasks, and meeting operational priorities.
- Share technical expertise with colleagues, newcomers, and apprentices.
- Promote collaboration, prevent conflicts, and contribute to a positive team culture.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance.
Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret technical and mechanical drawings.
- Understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting methods and maintenance principles.
- Proficiency in the use of workshop equipment and measuring tools.
- Knowledge of welding (ARC) is an advantage.
- Awareness of workshop safety rules, processes, and industrial practices.
- Knowledge of rolling stock or depot equipment maintenance is preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in a maintenance or workshop environment.
- Previous exposure to the railway industry is an advantage.
- Experience in operating depot equipment or similar industrial machinery.
