Job description:

Overview
The East Manatee Fire Rescue District is seeking a motivated and dedicated Rookie Firefighter to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a strong desire to serve their community and a willingness to learn. The Rookie Firefighter will perform a variety of duties related to fire suppression, emergency response, and public safety, while also supporting the maintenance and readiness of department equipment and facilities. All duties are performed under the direction of a supervisor and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Valid Florida driver's license

· Current Florida Firefighter II certification

· Current Florida EMT or Paramedic certification

· Current BLS CPR card

· Tobacco Free (1+ year) and drug free workplace

Duties

  • Respond to fires, natural disasters, medical emergencies, and environmental incidents.
  • Perform interior and exterior firefighting operations.
  • Conduct search and rescue operations in emergency situations.
  • Assist with driver and pump operations.
  • Administer CPR, basic life support, and other medical treatments.
  • Support ventilation and water supply operations.
  • Participate in brush and wildland firefighting activities.
  • Assist in hazardous materials mitigation and control of petroleum leaks and spills.
  • Support fire investigation activities as directed.
  • Inspect, check, and restock equipment and supplies on apparatus and in stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of all vehicles and facilities.
  • Test, inspect, and maintain fire hydrants.
