This position is a 3pm-11pm shift.
Courteously and efficiently answer Room Service phones, take and input guests' orders; ensure receipt of orders by Servers and settle checks in the Micros system according to hotel specifications. Process payment of guest checks in accordance with accounting requirements and maintain accountability for all financial transactions.
Qualifications:
1) Ability to communicate in English with guests/visitors and hotel staff to their understanding.
2) Ability to provide legible communication.
3) Ability to compute mathematical calculations.
4) Previous experience in cashiering and order taking.
5) Knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation and quality standards.
6) Experience with computers, calculators or work processors.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Maintain complete knowledge of:
a) All liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in Room Service.
b) The particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
c) Designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.
d) All menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation and prices.
e) Daily menu specials, 86'd items.
f) Guest room layout, locations and room numbers/names.
g) O.S. and manual system procedures.
h) Daily house count, arrivals/departures, V.I.P.'s.
i) Scheduled in-house group activities, locations and times.
2) Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those providing service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
3) Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use if equipment, use equipment only as intended.
4) Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.
5) Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Obtain change required for expected business level. Keep bank secure at all times.
6) Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; maintain cleanliness at all times. Report shortages to supervisor.
7) Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
8) Answer Room Service phone within 3 rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.
9) Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques and following all departmental standards.
10) Ensure accuracy of guest name and room number of each order for delivery.
11) Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy.
12) Maintain positive guest relations.
13) Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
14) Handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedure and ensuring guest satisfaction.
15) Access all functions of the Micros system in accordance to specifications. Restock journal tape and change ribbons as needed.
16) Input orders into system and distribute to Servers; ensure authorization for room charges. When system is down, obtain manual checks and follow all Accounting procedures.
17) Ensure timely set up and delivery of orders.
18) Contact guests within 10 minutes after order is delivered to ensure guest satisfaction and to suggest additional orders; resolve any problems promptly.
19) Organize, document and track pick up of dirty trays/tables; direct staff as required to retrieve dirty trays/tables.
20) Process all payment methods in accordance with Accounting procedures and policies.
21) Accommodate guest requests for change courteously.
22) Input charges for amenity orders and coordinate delivery of such with Servers; following departmental procedures.
23) Organize, input and distribute advance orders and doorknob menu orders according to departmental procedures.
24) Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all service areas, following procedures laid down in departmental standards.
25) Assist and oversee Room Service staff in their job functions as specified in departmental standards.
26) Settle all checks opened under own I.D. Settle all Servers checks before leaving; report open checks to Room Service supervisor/manager.
27) Complete designated closing reports in the Micros system.
28) Count bank at end of shift and secure bank.
29) Legibly complete designated cashier reports and distribute in accordance with Finance procedures.
30) Balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications.
31) Review business status and follow up actions with on-coming Order Taker/Cashier or Supervisor.
32) Successful completion of the training/certification process.
