Overview:
Reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator produces rotational molded parts in accordance with process parameters, changes out molds, and maintains acceptable levels of scrap and productivity; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
3rd Shift Hours (10pm - 6am, Sunday - Thursday)

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Operates rotational molding machine to meet or exceed plant metrics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale/Inventory.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

Transfer plastic resin into ovens for heating and into molds for forming.
- Work as a team to assemble and dismantle molds.

Removes molded parts from the molds and monitors part temperature.

Conduct mold changes using overhead cranes and rigging.
- Uses feedback from Trimmers inspecting product to drive process improvements to reduce scrap and improve productivity.

Maintains safe and clean operations by adhering to safety procedures and company 6S requirements.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Qualifications:

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to complete dimensional measuring and quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools.

Ability to perform simple math and measurements.
- Ability to maintain a high attention to detail.

Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
-
Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders is required.
-
Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items: e.g., screws, bolts and nuts to service the molds.

Ability to understand/apply knowledge of “G” and “M” codes and have applicable computer skills.
- Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time.

Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
- Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.

Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
Education and/or Experience:
-
High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
-
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
-
Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.
Equipment Operated:
-
Forklift, measurement devices, wrenches, screwdrivers and various other hand tools.
