Position Summary
The Route Manager is responsible for overseeing daily route operations, ensuring efficient delivery and pickup of linen services, and managing route drivers. This role focuses on customer satisfaction, route efficiency, safety, and employee performance while supporting Economy Linen’s commitment to reliable service as an essential business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Route & Operations Management
- Manage daily route schedules to ensure timely and accurate delivery and pickup of linen products
- Optimize route efficiency, productivity, and cost control
- Monitor route performance metrics, including service levels, mileage, and stop counts
- Address service issues, shortages, or delivery concerns promptly
Employee Supervision
- Supervise, coach, and support route drivers
- Ensure drivers follow company policies, safety procedures, and DOT requirements
- Conduct ride-alongs, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary
- Assist with hiring, training, and onboarding of route drivers
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and route coverage
Customer Service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers
- Resolve customer complaints and service concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and account growth
- Ensure customer retention through consistent, high-quality service
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Conduct safety meetings and enforce safe driving practices
- Review accidents, incidents, and violations; implement corrective actions as needed
Administrative Responsibilities
- Review driver logs, timecards, and route documentation
- Maintain accurate records related to routes, employees, and customer service issues
- Collaborate with plant, maintenance, and sales teams to support operational goals
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in route management, transportation, logistics, or linen/uniform services preferred
- Supervisory or leadership experience required
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and overtime as needed
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Combination of office, plant, and field work
- Ability to walk routes, climb in and out of vehicles, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
