Description:
The Routing Scheduler is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring outbound routing activities to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in the most cost-effective manner. This role partners closely with Operations, Shipping, and Transportation to support efficient dock flow, optimize carrier utilization, and meet service and financial expectations.
The Routing Coordinator plays a key role in protecting customer commitments while supporting LT’s goals for efficiency, cost control, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Routing & Scheduling Execution

Create, update, and manage daily shipment routes based on volume, service requirements, and carrier availability.

Ensure orders are routed accurately and released in a timely manner to support dock flow and shipping schedules.

Monitor routing progress throughout the shift and adjust as needed to respond to volume changes or operational constraints.
Financial & Cost Awareness

Support cost-effective routing decisions by maximizing trailer utilization and minimizing unnecessary freight expense.

Partner with leadership to align routing decisions with transportation budgets and cost per unit goals.

Identify and escalate routing issues that may impact cost, service, or customer commitments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Shipping, Operations, and Scheduling to align routing plans with labor, capacity, and dock availability.

Communicate changes, priorities, or risks clearly to internal partners to ensure smooth execution.

Support collaboration with carriers and transportation partners as needed.
Accuracy, Compliance & Quality

Ensure routing is completed in compliance with customer requirements, carrier guidelines, and internal SOPs.

Maintain accurate routing documentation and system updates.

Assist in identifying process gaps or recurring issues and support continuous improvement efforts.

Experience working with WMS, TMS, or internal routing tools preferred.
Work Environment
