Required Qualifications:
PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics. 1 or more years of research experience/training.


Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated skills (or ability to learn quickly) in any of the following: programming (especially Python), data science, machine learning, and statistics.
Previous experience analyzing gravitational-wave or other large astronomical data sets.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills.
Strong desire to learn new computing platforms.

Job description:

  • 50%: Lead and conduct research in the development and application of algorithms for gravitational-wave data analysis, including searches for a stochastic gravitational-wave background with LIGO and technology development for future interferometer generations
  • 20%: Write and contribute to research grant proposals and funding applications as PI or co-PI
  • 20%: Supervise and mentor graduate students, technicians, and undergraduates participating in research
  • 5%: Communicate and coordinate with collaborators and other personnel involved in the research, including those from non-computing disciplines
  • 5%: Conduct independent research in a related discipline of interest including review of manuscripts and/or literature
  • Other duties of a similar scope as assigned
