Safety Assistant Civil Building Contracting

Required Safety Assistant in civil building contracting helps ensure worksite compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations by assisting with inspections, training, and documentation.

Key responsibilities include conducting daily site inspections, delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks, monitoring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining safety records, and supporting incident investigations under the guidance of a safety officer.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections: Assist in daily inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulations.
• Promote safety awareness: Help deliver safety inductions and daily toolbox talks to workers and supervisors.
• Enforce safety rules: Monitor and enforce site safety rules, and assist in issuing warnings or raising improvement notices for non-compliance.
• Monitor PPE: Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel on site.
• Maintain documentation: Assist in preparing and maintaining safety files, records, and reports, such as risk assessments and incident reports.
• Support incident investigations: Aid in investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and documenting corrective or preventative measures.
• Coordinate with teams: Work with site engineers and project managers to plan and implement safety measures for various activities.

Qualifications and skills

• Knowledge of construction safety principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations (e.g., UAE standards).
• Experience with site inspections and safety audits.
• Ability to provide safety training and briefings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic understanding of risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) is often a plus.
