Wilder, VT (Upper Valley Region)
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 annually
Advance Transit – Non-Profit Public Transportation

Advance Transit is seeking a Safety & Compliance Officer to lead and strengthen our safety culture across all transit operations. This role plays a critical part in protecting our passengers, employees, and the public while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and agency safety regulations.

What You’ll Do

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Manage DOT/FMCSA driver qualification files and certifications
  • Ensure compliance with CDL, medical cards, and Hours-of-Service rules
  • Maintain OSHA workplace safety compliance and required recordkeeping
  • Administer FTA Title VI civil rights program documentation
  • Serve as contact during audits and inspections

Safety Program & Training

  • Maintain and update the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP)
  • Develop and deliver employee safety training and refresher courses
  • Lead safety meetings
  • Track safety certifications and training completion

Accident Investigation & Risk Prevention

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and employee injuries
  • Perform root-cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Monitor trends and produce safety performance reports
  • Coordinate workers compensation safety prevention efforts

Driver Coaching & Monitoring

  • Conduct ride-alongs and observations
  • Review camera footage and provide coaching
  • Support a proactive, positive safety culture

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years experience in safety, compliance, transportation, or related field
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Experience conducting training or coaching employees
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and implement solutions
  • Valid driver’s license
