Safety Coordinator
The Safety Coordinator supports day-to-day implementation of AvidWater’s health and safety programs. This role assists with training logistics, site inspections, recordkeeping, and incident reporting to maintain compliance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA and company policies while promoting a proactive safety culture across jobsites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program support: Assist with the rollout and upkeep of safety policies, manuals, and procedures; track version control and distribute updates.
- HAZCOM/Emergency Plans: Help maintain the Hazard Communication (SDS) system and site Emergency Response binders; ensure postings and labels are current.
- Inspections: Conduct routine safety walkthroughs using standardized checklists; document observations, note corrective actions, and follow up on closure with site leads.
- Training logistics: Coordinate monthly safety meetings, orientations, toolbox talks, and vendor trainings (e.g., Fall Protection, Trenching/Excavation, LOTO, First Aid); manage sign-ins, rosters, and certificates.
- Records & reporting: Enter and maintain safety data (near misses, corrective actions, training records) in incident tracking software; prepare basic dashboards for leadership.
- Incident support: Assist with incident/near-miss intake, photo collection, and evidence gathering; draft initial reports and route to the Safety Supervisor/HR for root-cause analysis.
- Regulatory documentation: Maintain OSHA 300/300A/301 logs under direction; help compile documentation for audits, claims, and insurance requests.
- Jobsite coordination: Partner with retail managers, construction managers, superintendents, and crews to identify site-specific needs; help coordinate PPE distribution and inventory.
- Agency & vendor coordination: Schedule inspections, trainings, and meetings; support communications with regulators/insurers as directed.
- Culture & communications: Post safety bulletins, alerts, and lessons learned; champion day-to-day safe behaviors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of safety, construction, agriculture, or related field experience preferred (internships, apprenticeships, or field-lead experience count).
- Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal/OSHA basics and site safety best practices.
- OSHA 10 (Construction or General Industry) required; OSHA 30 or CHST preferred.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites throughout California.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and incident tracking systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required).
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA and fleet programs preferred; experience supporting subcontractor compliance preferred.
- Experience working with subcontractors and enforcing safety standards on multi-vendor sites is preferred.
