Safety Director

Position Summary

Elo Roofing is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Director to lead, develop, and manage all aspects of the Company’s safety program. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, reducing risk, and fostering a culture of safety excellence across all roofing operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong field experience in construction or roofing safety and hold certifications such as CHST, CSP, and/or OSHA 510/500 (or equivalent).

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies and procedures including other Skyline brands/companies.
  • Lead the company’s safety culture through training, communication, and accountability
  • Establish measurable safety goals and track performance (TRIR, EMR, incident rates)

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of roofing-specific safety requirements (fall protection, ladder safety, PPE, etc.)
  • Manage OSHA inspections, citations, and corrective actions
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required reporting
  • Interface directly with OSHA representatives

Training & Development

  • Design and deliver safety training programs for field crews, supervisors, and management
  • Conduct toolbox talks, onboarding safety orientation, and ongoing education
  • Mentor Site supervisors on enforcing safety policies and best practices
  • Manage training programs (OSHA 10/30 and beyond)
  • Field Safety Oversight
  • Perform regular job site inspections and audits
  • Oversee fall protection systems and enforcement
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective measures
  • Partner with project managers and superintendents to ensure safe work planning

Incident Management

· Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans

· Maintain accurate records of injuries, near misses, and safety metrics

· Coordinate with insurance providers and manage workers’ compensation claims

Leadership & Collaboration

· Collaborate with Operations, HR, Sales and Leadership teams to integrate safety into all business processes

· Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters

· Promote a “zero incident” mindset throughout the organization

Qualifications

Required

· 5+ years of safety leadership experience in construction or roofing

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards

· Proven experience developing and implementing safety programs

· Ability to influence and lead teams in a fast-paced field environment

Certifications (Preferred / Required Mix)

· CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) – preferred

· CSP (Certified Safety Professional) – highly preferred

· OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer – Required

· Additional certifications (first aid/CPR, fall protection, competent person) a plus

Physical & Work Environment

· Frequent travel to job sites

· Some travel outside of Jacksonville to markets where Skyline operates other brands.

· Ability to work in outdoor conditions and at heights when needed

· Occasional lifting, climbing, and use of PPE
