The Safety Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining all safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, monitoring compliance, and ensuring the site operates according to UAE health and safety standards.
A background in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred due to the nature of equipment, panels, and systems involved.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular Risk Assessments (RA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Monitor compliance with UAE safety regulations and local Civil Defense requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Inspect electrical panels, cables, breakers, and equipment to ensure safety compliance.
- Identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
- Ensure proper lockout–tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with electricians and engineers on safe installation and maintenance practices.
- Conduct safety training for new and existing employees.
- Organize fire drills, evacuation trainings, and first aid workshops.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all departments.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections across the facility.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency systems.
- Verify contractor compliance with safety guidelines.
- Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports.
- Maintain logs of inspections, incidents, PPE usage, and safety observations.
- Recommend safety improvements and preventive measures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (strong preference) or a related engineering field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Health & Safety.
- Certifications preferred:
- NEBOSH IGC
- IOSH Managing Safely
- OSHA
- First Aid & Fire Safety
- Strong knowledge of UAE Civil Defense safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
