Position Overview

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing the company’s safety program for high-risk hazard tree removal operations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and other applicable regulations, while promoting a strong safety-first culture across all crews and job sites.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Conduct jobsite safety audits, tailgate safety meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and incident reports.

Training & Compliance

  • Deliver safety training including chainsaw use, rigging, aerial lift operations, fall protection, CPR/First Aid, and electrical hazard awareness.
  • Ensure employee certifications, licenses, and PPE requirements are current and documented.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and state/local safety regulations.
  • Lead safety committee meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Risk Management

  • Coordinate with HR on workers’ compensation cases, return-to-work programs, and injury tracking.
  • Review subcontractor safety plans and qualifications before job commencement.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of safety management experience in tree care, arboriculture, construction, or similar high-risk industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and ANSI Z133 standards.
  • Ability to conduct field audits and hands-on training.

Preferred

  • Safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OSHA 30).
  • First Aid/CPR instructor certification.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office work and frequent field visits.
  • Requires outdoor work in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule to support early morning safety meetings or incident response.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
