Position Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing the company’s safety program for high-risk hazard tree removal operations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and other applicable regulations, while promoting a strong safety-first culture across all crews and job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
- Develop, maintain, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct jobsite safety audits, tailgate safety meetings, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; implement corrective actions.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and incident reports.
Training & Compliance
- Deliver safety training including chainsaw use, rigging, aerial lift operations, fall protection, CPR/First Aid, and electrical hazard awareness.
- Ensure employee certifications, licenses, and PPE requirements are current and documented.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and state/local safety regulations.
- Lead safety committee meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Risk Management
- Coordinate with HR on workers’ compensation cases, return-to-work programs, and injury tracking.
- Review subcontractor safety plans and qualifications before job commencement.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of safety management experience in tree care, arboriculture, construction, or similar high-risk industries.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and ANSI Z133 standards.
- Ability to conduct field audits and hands-on training.
Preferred
- Safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OSHA 30).
- First Aid/CPR instructor certification.
Work Environment
- Combination of office work and frequent field visits.
- Requires outdoor work in varying terrain and weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule to support early morning safety meetings or incident response.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
