Job Description – Safety Officer (Interior Design Company)
Position Title: Safety Officer
Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Location: Dubai UAE
Reporting To: Project Manager / HSE Manager / Operations Manager
Role Overview:
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment across all interior design, fit-out, and construction projects. This role involves implementing health & safety policies, conducting regular site inspections, training employees on safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with local UAE regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective measures are applied.
- Ensure compliance with UAE HSE regulations, Dubai Municipality, and relevant authorities.
- Organize and lead toolbox talks, safety induction programs, and training for workers and staff.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive actions.
- Maintain and update all safety-related documentation, records, and permits.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce proper safety practices.
- Coordinate emergency drills, evacuation plans, and fire safety procedures.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness within the company.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications:
- NEBOSH IGC / IOSH Managing Safely (mandatory or preferred).
- First Aid/Fire Fighting/Scaffold Inspection (advantage).
- Experience:
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in interior design, fit-out, or construction companies.
- Strong knowledge of UAE health & safety laws, Dubai Municipality, and Civil Defense requirements.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement risk control measures.
- Proficient in preparing safety reports and documentation.
- Strong observation and problem-solving abilities.
