Job Description – Safety Officer

Position Overview

The Safety Officer plays a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment across all construction projects. Based in Dubai, UAE, and reporting to the Project Manager or other concerned authorities, the Safety Officer is dedicated to the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, conducting regular site inspections, providing safety training, and ensuring full compliance with local UAE regulations as well as company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development and Monitoring:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously monitor HSE policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of workplace safety and environmental protection.
  • Site Inspections:
  • Conduct daily inspections of construction sites to proactively identify potential hazards and ensure that corrective measures are applied promptly.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure all activities comply with UAE HSE regulations, Dubai Municipality requirements, and the guidelines of relevant local authorities.
  • Safety Training:
  • Organize and lead toolbox talks, safety induction programmes, and ongoing training sessions for workers and staff to promote awareness and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Incident Investigation:
  • Investigate and report on all accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing recommendations for preventive action to avoid recurrence.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain and regularly update all safety-related documents, records, and permits, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • PPE Monitoring:
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and enforce adherence to proper safety protocols.
  • Emergency Preparedness:
  • Coordinate and conduct emergency drills, implement evacuation plans, and oversee fire safety procedures to ensure readiness for any emergency.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
  • Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure the integration of safety measures into all daily operations.
  • Safety Culture Promotion:
  • Foster and promote a strong culture of safety awareness and commitment throughout the company.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications:
  • NEBOSH certification is mandatory or preferred. Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fire Fighting, or Scaffold Inspection are considered advantageous.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience as a Safety Officer within construction companies. Strong knowledge of UAE health & safety laws, Dubai Municipality, and Civil Defence requirements is essential.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to identify hazards and implement risk control measures; proficiency in preparing safety reports and documentation; strong observation and problem-solving abilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
