We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer to manage and enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements for AACM (Annual Asset Condition Maintenance) and maintenance of bridges and structures projects. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, municipal standards, and project-specific HSE requirements for works of similar nature and magnitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor the Project Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Plan in line with approved standards.
- Ensure compliance with local authority, municipal, and international health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments for bridge, structural, and maintenance works.
- Identify hazards related to construction, maintenance, traffic management, work at height, confined spaces, and lifting operations.
- Ensure proper implementation of Method Statements, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Permit-to-Work systems.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with HSE requirements.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training programs for site personnel.
- Maintain HSE records, statistics, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with project management, engineers, and municipal representatives on safety matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all project sites.
Qualifications & Experience:
- International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) – mandatory.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction and maintenance projects of similar nature and magnitude.
- Proven experience in AACM projects and maintenance of bridges and structures is required.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety, bridge and structural maintenance hazards, and traffic safety management.
- Familiarity with UAE HSE regulations, municipal requirements, and international safety standards.
- Excellent knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety reporting procedures.
- Strong communication, leadership, and enforcement skills.
