To ensure the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance of all airfield electrical maintenance activities, including Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), navigational aids, substations, and associated infrastructure, in accordance with ICAO, IATA, EASA/GCAA, local regulations, and airport safety management systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Management & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and safe systems of work for airfield electrical maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with airport safety rules, ICAO Annex 14, national aviation authority regulations, and electrical safety standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and method statement reviews for airside electrical works.
  • Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, including HV/LV electrical isolation, lockout–tagout (LOTO), and confined space permits.

Airside Safety & Operational Control

  • Ensure safe access to movement areas (runways, taxiways, aprons) during electrical maintenance works.
  • Coordinate with Airside Operations, ATC, and Maintenance teams to minimize operational risks and disruptions.
  • Enforce proper use of PPE, airside driving permits (ADP), and equipment safety requirements.

Inspection, Audit & Monitoring

  • Carry out routine safety inspections of airfield electrical installations, substations, cable routes, and AGL systems.
  • Participate in internal and external safety audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and issue corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Incident Management

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, electrical faults, and safety violations.
  • Prepare incident reports, root cause analyses, and follow-up action plans.
  • Support emergency response involving electrical hazards, power failures, or airfield emergencies.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings for electrical maintenance staff and contractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with the airport Safety Management System (SMS).

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain HSE records, permits, risk assessments, inspection reports, and training logs.
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc safety performance reports for management.

Qualifications & ExperienceEducation & Certifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent HSE qualification (mandatory).
  • Additional certifications in Electrical Safety, HV/LV systems, or Aviation Safety preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Safety Officer in airfield, airport, or electrical maintenance environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems, substations, or power distribution is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety, HV/LV systems, and airside operational hazards.
  • Familiarity with ICAO Annex 14, SMS, Permit-to-Work systems, and airside safety practices.
  • Excellent risk assessment, auditing, and incident investigation skills.
  • Good communication skills for coordination with ATC, airside operations, engineers, and contractors.
  • Ability to work in a live airfield environment, including shift work if required.

Working Conditions

  • Airside and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to live electrical systems and operational aircraft movements.
  • May require night shifts and emergency call-outs during runway closures or critical works.

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED6,500.00 per month
