Job Purpose
To ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free working environment in the warehouse by implementing safety policies, monitoring compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies in the warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Warehousing Safety Norms, OSHA guidelines, and local statutory requirements.
- Conduct daily safety inspections of warehouse operations, material handling equipment, racking systems, forklifts, and loading/unloading areas.
- Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend corrective & preventive actions.
- Ensure proper usage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) by all employees and contract staff.
- Conduct safety induction and toolbox talks for new joiners, contractors, and drivers.
- Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and unsafe acts; prepare reports and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain records of accidents, safety trainings, safety audits, fire drills, and mock drills.
- Coordinate fire safety arrangements, emergency evacuation plans, and first-aid facilities.
- Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and clients during safety audits and inspections.
- Monitor housekeeping standards and ensure 5S and safe material stacking practices.
- Ensure safety compliance during forklift operations, pallet movement, height work, and chemical handling.
- Support management in achieving zero accident targets and continuous safety improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma / Degree in Safety Management, Industrial Safety, or NEBOSH/IOSH (preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in warehousing, logistics, or industrial safety.
- Good knowledge of warehouse safety standards and statutory compliances.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Ability to identify risks and enforce safety discipline on the shop floor.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel & report preparation.
