Safety Patrol Supervisor

Job Title: Patrol Supervisor

Reports To: Terminal Manager

About the Role:

As a Safety Patrol Supervisor (SSP), you’ll support daily operations that keep Colorado’s highways safe and running smoothly. This role works closely with CDOT to coordinate field teams, respond to roadway incidents, assist motorists, and help maintain steady traffic flow.

It’s a hands-on position that blends team support, fleet coordination, and real-time problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. This is a good fit for someone who stays organized under pressure, communicates well, and values safety and teamwork.

Required Certifications:

  • Ability to pass SSP DOT on-the-job training
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • TIM’s Certification (completed during training)

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in transportation management, fleet operations, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Transportation Safety Experience
  • Experience with fleet management software and logistics tracking systems.
  • Prior leadership experience in transportation or field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily field and fleet operations while ensuring DOT compliance and safety standards
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime
  • Provide guidance and support to drivers and field personnel
  • Communicate with CDOT and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Monitor performance, address issues in real time, and maintain service quality
  • Assist with budget awareness and cost control efforts

Skills:

The required skills in fleet/personnel management and transportation management are essential for ensuring that all vehicles and employees are operating efficiently and in compliance with regulations. Knowledge of DOT contracts is critical for maintaining safety standards and avoiding penalties, which directly impacts the terminal's reputation and operational success.

Skills in logistics management enable the supervisor to optimize routes and schedules, ensuring timely deliveries and customer satisfaction. Operations management skills are utilized to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve overall productivity within the terminal. Preferred skills, such as experience with fleet management software, team support and management, enhance the ability to analyze data, costs, and make informed decisions that drive continuous improvement.
