Safety & Sustainability Officer - Glass Processing / Manufacturing

Our client, a manufacturing company in the glass processing industry, is seeking a Safety & Sustainability Officer to oversee workplace safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives across its operations. The role will be responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, maintaining safety systems, driving sustainability programs, and promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace for employees.

Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure the overall safety of factory operations across the glazing and glass divisions.
  • Coordinate and liaise with relevant government authorities and regulatory bodies for safety and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain fire safety systems, including fire hydrants and other emergency equipment, ensuring they remain operational at all times.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor 5S workplace organization practices and conduct scheduled audits.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Monitor and maintain health, hygiene, and environmental conditions at both workplace facilities and company-provided employee accommodations.
Sustainability Initiatives
  • Lead and implement sustainability programs within the factory and office environments.
  • Drive initiatives focused on reducing energy consumption and water usage per unit of production.
  • Train and motivate employees to actively participate in sustainability and environmental initiatives.
  • Liaise with government bodies, NGOs, and training institutions to stay updated on sustainability best practices and regulatory developments.
  • Represent the organization in sustainability-related events, forums, and industry discussions.
  • Coordinate efforts to obtain relevant sustainability certifications and compliance standards as required.
  • Engage with clients, architects, developers, and other stakeholders to support sustainability goals and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Officer qualification or relevant safety certification.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in sustainability initiatives or environmental programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits and implementing workplace safety systems.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to liaise with government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Candidates with experience in the glass processing or manufacturing industry will be preferred.
  • Ability to train and influence teams to follow safety and sustainability practices.
