Sales Agronomist

Barrett, Minnesota Area

This Role Is Built for a Proven, Local Agronomist

At Barrett Ag, the strongest relationships start with great agronomy.

We’re looking for an experienced agronomist who understands the crops grown in our area, the weed and disease pressures that show up year after year, and the practical, proven solutions that work in the field. This role is ideal for someone local to the Barrett, MN area, or deeply familiar with it, who already knows how to help growers manage real-world challenges.

Sales is part of the role, but it’s not transactional. Growth comes from trust, strong recommendations, and consistent results.

What You’ll Be Known For

  • Deep understanding of local crops, weeds, diseases, and management strategies
  • Practical, results-driven agronomic recommendations and solutions growers rely on
  • Long-term relationships built on credibility, honesty, and follow-through
  • Turning agronomic insight into value-added solutions for growers

This is a high-ownership role where your expertise drives outcomes—for both growers and the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a trusted agronomic advisor to growers in the Barrett trade area
  • Diagnose field-level challenges and recommend effective solutions across crop protection, nutrition, seed, and services
  • Stay ahead of local weed resistance, disease pressure, and agronomic trends
  • Develop and execute customer-specific plans that improve performance and profitability
  • Manage sales opportunities that naturally follow strong agronomy and trust
  • Work closely with the VP of Sales and sales team to ensure alignment and consistent messaging
  • Make regular on-site field calls throughout the growing season
  • Champion problem-solving products that deliver measurable results
  • Create and present a personal plan outlining key customers and growth opportunities
  • Track performance through sales reporting and forecasting
  • Collaborate with suppliers to stay current on products, research, and best practices

What Sets You Apart

  • Agronomy-focused college degree required
  • 5+ years of hands-on agronomy experience preferred
  • Strong background in local crop production and weed management
  • Working experience with crop protection, seed, nutrition, and related ag inputs
  • Ability to confidently identify problems and stand behind recommendations
  • Strong communicator who earns trust with growers and teammates
  • Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable owning results
  • Solid business acumen and understanding of how agronomy drives long-term value

Why This Role Works

  • Agronomy-first culture with sales driven by credibility, not pressure
  • High trust and autonomy in your local market
  • Support from experienced sales leadership and operations
  • Opportunity to build lasting relationships in a community you know
  • A company focused on long-term grower success
