Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for generating top-line revenue for the hotel through
proactive sales efforts, relationship development, and local market penetration. The role
focuses on securing negotiated accounts, group business, and local partnerships while
supporting occupancy growth, ADR improvement, and long-term repeat business.
This is a hands-on position requiring outside sales, on-property engagement, and
collaboration with Front Desk, Revenue Management, and Operations teams. In
addition to sales responsibilities, the position will also support the General Manager with
administrative and operational tasks that contribute to overall hotel performance and
guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Revenue Generation
- Prospect and secure new corporate, government, and negotiated (LNR) accounts
- Conduct outside sales calls weekly (business parks, hospitals, contractors, sports, universities, relocation companies, etc.)
- Develop and maintain a sales action plan and monthly goal tracking
- Respond to all leads and RFPs within brand and company timelines
- Work closely with revenue management on pricing strategy and availability
- Actively sell during need periods and low occupancy days
Account Management
- Maintain relationships with existing accounts and grow room night production
- Conduct on-site client visits, property tours, and networking meetings
- Track production and adjust strategy based on performance
- Participate in local chambers, networking groups, and community events
Lead Generation & Property Engagement
- Train front desk staff on identifying and passing sales leads
- Follow up on all front desk and guest-generated leads
- Engage with in-house guests to identify potential business opportunities
- Provide scheduled front desk coverage (approximately 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM) to interact with guests and generate leads
- Assist with service recovery when necessary to protect accounts and guest relationships
Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist the General Manager with administrative duties as needed
- Respond to guest reviews and online reputation platforms
- Support Accounts Receivable processes including invoicing, billing, and follow-up
- Coordinate and communicate group and negotiated account billing requirements
- Provide operational support during peak times and assist departments as
- necessary to ensure service standards
- Support property initiatives that improve guest satisfaction scores and operational efficiency
Marketing & Promotion
- Assist with hotel marketing initiatives, promotions, and local advertising
- Manage local partnerships and referral programs
- Support online reputation growth and group promotions when needed
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain CRM and sales activity logs
- Provide weekly activity and production reports
- Track pace, pickup, and account performance
- Participate in weekly revenue and operations meetings
Qualifications
- 1–3 years hotel sales, front office, or hospitality experience preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to prospect and conduct outside sales independently
- Organized, self-motivated, and goal-oriented
- Comfortable with networking and cold calling
- Familiarity with hotel PMS/brand systems preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Work Environment
- Combination of office work, on-property operations, and outside sales
- Regular local travel required
- Occasional evenings and weekends for networking events and group greeting at the property
- Some operational support shifts required based on hotel business needs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
