About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Solutions Designer/Architect to join the Enterprise Platform Services team at the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This is a long-term contract role where you will play a key role in transitioning legacy applications, designing scalable Salesforce solutions, and ensuring the state maximizes its Salesforce investment.
This role requires strong technical expertise, strategic planning ability, and the ability to mentor and collaborate across teams. You will work with business partners, vendors, and development staff to design and deliver enterprise solutions aligned with DHHS goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide cost, time, and resource estimates for new Salesforce demands and enhancements
- Participate in strategic and tactical planning with business partners, vendors, and organizational unit leadership
- Provide consultation and planning for modifications and enhancements to production applications and systems
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, assisting development staff with solutions
- Recommend enterprise development practices, standards, and tools to leadership
- Mentor and train applications development staff on standard Salesforce development practices and tools
- Ensure quality assurance and adherence to state, departmental, and divisional standards and procedures
- Conduct platform assessment and performance monitoring to prevent service interruptions
- Coordinate application assessment and performance monitoring with development teams
- Lead technical discussions, demos, and knowledge-sharing sessions with stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in Salesforce solution design and architecture
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale Salesforce solutions
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce best practices, governance, and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce integration, customization, and migration from legacy systems
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work across teams and influence business and technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Salesforce Architect or Advanced Salesforce certifications strongly preferred
- Prior experience in healthcare or government environments
- Knowledge of enterprise IT systems integration and change management best practices
